Magazines in Starfield provide permanent bonuses to skills, so they are worth collecting. On this page of the guide you will find a list of the items that will improve your abilities.

Below we have listed 20 magazines in Starfield that provide ability bonuses. There are many more magazines in the game, but collecting 20 unlocks the Thirst for Knowledge achievement. On this guide page, you will find repeatable locations containing items that will help you develop your character.

Where can I find magazines?

You will find magazines while exploring different planets.

  1. Some of them can be found while completing missions, e.g. faction tasks or special tasks for a companion.
  2. Some merchants sell magazines.
  3. Some locations where you can find magazines appear randomly on planets. One player can therefore come across a research station with a magazine while exploring Mars, and another, for example, while visiting the moon in the Shoza system.
  4. There are also fixed locations where you will definitely find magazines. Below we have described 20 locations of magazines providing skill bonuses, which are easy to reach, as they are not directly related to missions or random locations.

  1. You can collect the first magazine right at the beginning of the game. It's hard to miss it - the magazine is in the Lodge on the planet Jemison in New Atlantis.
  2. The magazine lies on the railing opposite the main entrance to the Lodge.
  3. It provides a buff that permanently reduces fall damage by 5%.

  1. The magazine is located in the Clinic in the Narion system. You have to fly up to this station to dock there.
  2. You will find the magazine right after entering the Clinic. It lies on a small table in the left part of the room.
  3. Once you have collected it, you will permanently reduce your oxygen consumption by 15% when moving while overburdened.

  1. The next magazine is in the Well in New Atlantis on the planet Jemison. To get there, use the elevator by the transit line.
  2. The Cyberhacker's cipher is on the desk in the Apex Electronics store, which is located right next to the Trade Authority building.
  3. Pick it up to permanently deal 5% more critical damage with a laser weapon.

  1. This magazine is located at Nova Galactic research station on Earth's moon in the Sol system. You have to fly up to the station and dock to it.
  2. Once there, follow the corridors to the end of the station until you reach the room marked "Workroom". After passing another long corridor, you will see a desk - the magazine is lying on it.
  3. After collecting the magazine, you will permanently reduce the amount of fuel required for a grav jump by 1%.

  1. The magazine can be found in the MAST district of New Atlantis on the planet Jemison.
  2. The magazine is in the United Colonies headquarters on the Government/Office of Interstellar Affairs floor. It lies on the wooden table in the last room at the very end of this floor.
  3. This storage permanently reduces the amount of fuel required for a grav jump by 1%.

  1. The magazine is located in the Tau Gourmet production center. It is on the planet Tau Ceti II in the Tau Ceti system.
  2. You can find The New Atlantian on a metal desk on the ground floor of a small building opposite the ship - after landing, just go straight.
  3. The magazine provides access to the recipe for the dish - The Deep.

  1. The New Atlantian 05 is located in the Well in New Atlantis. You can get there via the elevator at the transit line in the MAST district.
  2. Go to the first floor of Kay's House. As soon as you go upstairs, look to the right - the magazine is on the wooden desk.
  3. Pick it up to receive access to the recipe for a dish - Shepherd's Pie.

  1. The magazine is on Cydonia on Mars in the Sol system. You will find him on the residential level.

Peak Performance 01

  1. Peak Performance 01 is located on the Eye space station in the Alpha Centauri system. You need to fly to the Eye and dock there.
  2. The magazine is in the Physical Training room on white boxes.
  3. After collecting it, you will permanently increase your carrying capacity by 5 kilograms.

  1. The magazine is on the planet Akila in the Cheyenne system.
  2. You will find it on a table on the second floor of the Rock. You will see the magazine immediately after entering the floor.
  3. Collecting the guide will make the reloading and drawing the Laredo weapon permanently faster by 5%.

  1. This guide is in Akila in the Cheyenne system.
  2. It is lying on a tall table inside Sinclair's Books - when you go from the port to Akila, follow the road located in front of the Rock. It is slightly to its left.
  3. For collecting the magazine, you will permanently speed up reloading and drawing Laredo weapons by 5%.

  1. The magazine can be found on the planet Polvo in the Valo system.
  2. The guide is on a plastic chair near the wall right next to the entrance to the Rangers building in the Hope town.
  3. After collecting it, you will permanently speed up reloading and drawing Laredo weapons by 5%.

  1. This guide is located on the planet Volii Alpha in the Volii system in the Neon Core.
  2. Go to the Freestar Rangers station. By going up the stairs, you will get to a small bedroom - the magazine is on the table next to the bed.
  3. Collecting the guide will make the reloading and drawing the Laredo weapon permanently faster by 5%.

  1. The magazine is in the Den space station, in the Wolf system.
  2. When you dock in the Den and leave the ship, stick to the right side and go to the very end of the station. You will reach a small room with a research laboratory - the manual is on a cabinet at the end of the laboratory (between the beds).
  3. After collecting the magazine, you will slightly increase the magazine size and critical hit chance for Armaments.

  1. This manual is in Cydonia on Mars in the Sol system.
  2. Go down to the living quarters floor and look for a room with the words UC Marine Barracks above it - it's across from where the Mining Monthly Issue 07 is located. The magazine lies on the white table.
  3. It further increases the magazine size and critical hit chance for Armaments.

Solomon's Adventures 01

  1. The magazine can be found in the Coe family residence in Akila city in the Cheyenne system - access to this place will be unlocked during The Empty Nest main quest (we described it on a separate page of our guide).
  2. Solomon's Adventures are on a shelf next to the bed in the bedroom on the mansion's ground floor.
  3. The magazine will permanently increase your weapon damage at night by 5%.

  1. The magazine is also located in Akila in the Cheyenne system.
  2. It is lying on a glass table in the consulate of Akila - this building is located right next to the Rock.
  3. The magazine permanently increases the carrying capacity by 5 kilograms.

Neon Nights 02

  1. You can find this magazine in the Astral Lounge. It is in the Neon Core in the Volii system (planet Volii Alpha).
  2. Take the elevator to the VIP area. The magazine lies on a round table in a room called "booth".
  3. Neon Nights 02 unlocks the STEVE recipe, which slows time and increases ranged damage.

Va'Ruun Scripture 03

  1. The magazine is in Akila in the Cheyenne system.
  2. Go to the very outskirts of the city - if you entered it from the landing pad, your destination will be on the left side of the Rock. The magazine is lying in a box at the end of a small stand.
  3. After collecting the Va'Ruun Scripture, your stealth bonus will be permanently increased by 1% and your sneak attack damage will be increased by 5%.
