Starfield has a trait system, but some of them may have side effects. On this guide page, you will find tips on how to permanently remove a trait you picked in the character creator.

How to check current traits?

1. As a reminder, you choose traits in the character creator and you can assign a maximum of 3 different traits to your character.
2. You can check your traits in the data menu (TAB key). Go to the Status window (B key) and to the Character tab. The traits are listed along with your past on the right side (scroll down the description if necessary).

How to permanently remove traits?

1. Unfortunately, you can't just freely get rid of every trait. You can't, for example, highlight it on the character stats screen and remove it. You should choose traits carefully, especially if a particular one has any side effects (e.g. faster oxygen consumption in certain situations).
2. The game allows you to remove some traits. For example, traits like Raised Enlightened or Raised Universal can be removed by visiting the church of a given group and meeting with a priest. During the conversation, you can say that you've lost faith. A special dialogue option to remove a trait will appear - the example from the picture refers to Sanctum Universum.

1. Another example might be the Kid Stuff trait, which allows you to meet with parents in an apartment in New Atlantis.
2. You can tell your father that you can't continue to maintain the apartment (transferring 2% of your credits every week). Choose the special dialogue option to remove the trait (above picture). This will force the parents to move to a lower standard apartment.
