As you explore planets in Starfield, you have to watch out for radiation and other environmental hazards that can reduce lifespan and worsen protagonist stats. In this guide, we inform you how to learn about radiation, how to increase your resistance with clothing items, and how to eliminate the negative effects of radiation after receiving a Status Effect.

Warning of radiation area

1. Radiation is one of the many potential environmental hazards that you have to deal with in the game. You can enter the radiation area, during surveying planets, but it can also appear in the caves, for example.
2. The protagonist's watch can warn you about the radiation - on his dial (lower left corner of the screen) information about the type of contamination will appear (radioactive gas in our example).

Radiation protection suits

1. Clothing items can protect you from radiation - suits, backpacks, helmets and clothes. In the descriptions of these types of items, there is information about resistance to various types of contamination (the above picture) and among them is radiation.
2. The same types of resistance from the different clothing items add up, meaning your character can last longer in the radiation area before the protection wears off and body becomes contaminated.

How to remove the effects of radiation quickly?

1. The game will warn you about exhaustion of radiation protection (or another form of contamination). You can also find out about the negative status in the character menu in the Status Effects window.
2. The received effect has consequences, such as shortening the maximum value of the health bar (the orange color represents the part of the bar that is taken away).

1. The easiest way to get rid of radiation is to return to a place where you can breathe freely, e.g. to a base with clean air, on board your ship, or to an outpost.
2. Another way is to use an injector - that's a consumable item that allows you to neutralize various contaminations and diseases, including Radiation Poisoning. You can find injectors as loot or buy them in stores.
3. The last of the main ways is to visit any clinic, e.g. Reliant Medical, which you can find in every major city and outpost. You can pay for complete treatment, which removes all negative conditions from the protagonist (including, hypothermia or limb fractures).
