The Crimson Fleet is a faction of space pirates in Starfield. From our guide, you will learn how to contact the Crimson Fleet to, e.g. sell contraband.

One of the factions you can join in Starfield is Crimson Fleet, the space pirates. Here, we have provided detailed instructions on how to make contact with the pirates by doing a spy mission and what steps you need to take to become a member of the Crimson Fleet.

Step 1 - Finding a contraband

1. The Crimson Fleet faction is not easy to find and join. The method described by us assumes unlocking a spy mission commissioned by UC.
2. The first step is to obtain any contraband. These are illegal goods marked with a yellow icon. You can find contraband, for example, by visiting Hel-3 outposts on planets. The example is on Jupiter's moon Io in the Solar System. Your Security skill should be developed suficiently to gain access to the outpost.

Step 2 - Getting the contraband detected and being arrested

1. Once you have contraband, reach any inhabited UC system. Once in orbit, your ship will be scanned for contraband.
2. Accept the radio message. You will be arrested by smuggling contraband. Agree to be arrested and you will be transferred aboard the UC Vigilance ship. This will allow you to start the Deep Cover quest.

Step 3 - Deep Cover quest

The premise of this mission is to act as a spy to make contact with the Crimson Fleet. The most important steps to take are:

1. Talk to Commander Ikande - First in the cell and then in the operations center. You must agree to work undercover (picture above).
2. Meet Saoirse Bowden in Cydonia - You can choose a special dialogue option or, for example, give her 1,000 credits.
3. Meet with Adler Kemp - You have to show him the sample and agree to help him further.
4. Get money back from Karl Fielding - You can personally pay off his debt (3,000 credits) or get credits from him, e.g. by killing or intimidating him (with persuasion).
5. After Karl's debt is paid off, a new quest called Rook Meets King will begin.

Step 4 - Rook Meets King quest

You must make contact with the Astraea ship. Its pilot, Naeva, can direct the team to the Crimson Fleet's base. You first have to:

1. Find the Astraea ship in Europa's orbit - Naeva's ship is in the moon's orbit. You must pick up the transmission (above picture) and agree to help.
2. Find Ragana - The ship is aboard Enceladus. The main task is to get rid of Austin Rake and there are various ways to do this, such as destroying the ship, boarding and killing Austin, or finding a peaceful solution to the problem.
3. Return to Naeva - After you are back in the Europa's orbit, help in destroying the enemy fighters. Astraea cannot be destroyed. After winning the fight, talk to Naeva over the radio.
4. Report to Commander Ikande - You must return to the Solar System, dock with the UC Vigilance ship and report back.

Step 5 - Reaching the Key base in the Kryx system

1. Now you can go to the Key - it is a large space station that is the main base of the Crimson Fleet.
2. You must plan your flight to the Kryx system accordingly. It is very likely that you will not have enough fuel/range for a single long flight. You have to jump from system to the next. Ultimately, this will allow you to reach the system controlled by the Crimson Fleet.

Step 6 - Docking on the Key

If you have done the previous steps correctly (it's important to return to Commander Ikande), then you can:

1. Call the Key - you will receive a short response.
2. Dock on the Key - fly to the station to get the option to dock at the Crimson Fleet base (hold down the R key).

Step 7 - Meeting with Delgado at the Crimson Fleet headquarters

1. Once you're on board the Key, talk to Naeva and follow her. She will introduce the hero to the most important locations, NPCs, and shops.
2. Ultimately, you have to meet with the leader of the Crimson Fleet - Delgado. You must express your willingness to join this faction. Their first quest will begin immediately - Echoes of the Past.
