Fan-made maps are finally coming to Counter-Strike 2. Valve has released a major update to the game, and among the changes is the addition of the option to load maps from Steam Workshop (whose tools in CS2 have also been updated). Of course, they will only be playable on community servers or offline.

It is worth mentioning that after the update, the former CS maps are no longer visible in the Workshop. They can only be seen after checking the "Show incompatible items" option (via Reddit). This is rather unsurprising, since obviously the old maps were created for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and are not compatible with the new version.

In addition to adding support for fan-made maps, the update fixes quite a few bugs, including those causing weapons to fire too quickly and fall out of the "gameplay zone" and those related to the interface. Minor changes have also been made to, among others:

  1. smoke grenades to distinguish them from flashbang variants;
  2. birds on Inferno, which were removed because they resembled grenades (wow!);
  3. and knives to hit nearby enemies rather than allies near the player.

The full list of changes can be found on the official website of Counter-Strike.
