Skills in Starfield are unlocked by spending skill points and can be upgraded after completing special challenges tied to the given ability. On this page, we've listed the skills we consider the most useful.

Rejuvenation

1. You need healing items to restore health in Starfield. Rejuvenation makes them less mandatory, as it lets you regenerate health.
2. Rejuvenation is worth upgrading up to Rank 4, giving you lots of health regen both in and out of combat.
3. Rejuvenation is a Tier 4 Physical skill, so you'll need to spend at least 12 skill points to access it.

Xenosociology / Manipulation

1. Xenosociology and manipulation in Starfield are two similar skills. The former lets you dominate alien minds, the second lets you dominate hostile human minds.
2. We mostly recommend maxing out Xenosociology, as it will not only let you force hostile aliens to cease fighting, but also make them obey you.
3. Both are Tier 4 Social skills - you need to spend at least 12 skill points in this tree to access them.

Rapid Reloading

1. This skill is worth investing into, as it lets you reload different weapon types more quickly, depending on the rank.
2. It's worth it to upgrade it to Rank 4, as it will significantly increase reload speed of any weapon for 15 seconds.
3. Rapid Reloading is a Tier 3 Combat skill, so you need to spend at least 8 skill points to access it.

Security

1. Security makes it easier to open locked containers, as it grants you several automatic attempts to hack the lock.
2. It's worth upgrading to Rank 4, as it will let you spend a digipick to eliminate keys not required to solve the puzzle.
3. This is a Tier 1 Tech skill and can be unlocked right away.

Boost Assault Training

1. Boost Assault Training is an extremely good skill, which provides various bonuses when using this item. Rank 1 alone will give you a chance to ignite enemies while flying.
2. It's worth upgrading to Rank 4, as it slows down time while using the boost pack, making aiming much easier.
3. This is a Tier 4 Tech skill. You'll need to spend at least 12 skill points in this tree to access it.
