The Case Board is a tool that helps Saga organize her thoughts. There, individual threads and clues are represented in the form of a complex mind map. However, it will often happen that the clues you find will be classified by the game as For Later, and Saga will not be able to use them or assign them to any of the branching threads of the case. On this guide page, you will learn how to deal with troublesome clues so you can make progress in the case.
What are the For Later clues?
The relatively open structure of the locations in Alan Wake 2 means that you may encounter certain clues before the protagonist is able to understand their true meaning. If the found material is directly related to the case, but the topic related to it has not yet been unlocked, then the game will block your ability to use it until you activate the relevant thread on the mind map.
These circumstantial evidence without any context are marked as For Later. However, this status is temporary, because unlocking the appropriate branch on the Case Board will automatically remove the blockade placed on the clues and allow the heroine to analyze them.
How to unlock missing investigation threads?
As we mentioned on the guide page dedicated to the Mind Place, effective investigation as Saga in Alan Wake 2 requires you to follow multiple threads and use a wide range of available tools. Although the Case Board is probably the most important piece of equipment in the imaginary thought palace, options such as profiling or reading manuscript pages can also unlock new threads in the puzzle.
