Interesting rumors have surfaced online regarding the sequel to BioWare's hit space RPG series, commonly referred to as Mass Effect 5.

  1. According to them BioWare initially planned that the game would have an open world. Eventually, however, the developers are said to have decided to abandon this idea and return to the solutions used in earlier installments in the series.
  2. This means in the game, instead of a large open world, we are to find a series of smaller locations, not directly connected into a single whole.
  3. The source of this information is a very reputable journalist Jez Corden from Windows Central.

Although open worlds are very popular nowadays, the fact that Mass Effect 5 is moving away from such solutions in favor of a more classic structure seems like a good idea. Players expect this game to return to its roots, not chase current trends. Only when BioWare restores the brand to its former glory (the series' reputation has been badly damaged by ME: Andromeda), fans will be ready for radical experiments with the formula.

Unfortunately, we still do not know when we will play Mass Effect 5. The game was announced in 2020, but the information made available about it so far about it is very scarce.
