As it has been a week since the release of truck driver simulator Alaskan Road Truckers on PC, and Movie Games' management was tempted to summarize the first results. The published report addresses, among other things, the game's sales.

  1. In the first week since its release, Alaskan Road Truckers sold 33 thousand copies (including 2.5 thousand as part of so-called bundles).
  2. Paid DLC called Mother Truckers Edition has sold more than 11.5 thousand copies.
  3. Movie Games also stated the number of refunds - they amount to 3,000 copies of the game.

Movie Games CEO Michal Puczynski stated that "the company is getting close to Alaskan Road Truckers breaking even for Green Man Gaming" [a video game service run by UK-based retailer, distributor and publisher Green Man, with who Road Studio is working on new content for ART - editor's note]. Describing the debut as "decent," one gets the impression that the company's management had higher hopes for the game.

At the same time, the company assured that ART has a long road of development in front of itself. Movie Games CEO Matthew Wczesniak revealed that "there are numerous DLCs planned, as well as very important console versions.".

Alaskan Road Truckers - reception on Steam

Alaskan Road Truckers can't boast of much favor with gamers. At the time of writing this news, the game "enjoys" 1,190 reviews on Steam, of which only 66% are positive. The reasons for the poor reception of the simulator should be seen in its poor technical condition, and especially in the abysmal optimization. The so-called peak, i.e. the highest number of people playing at the same time, was only 1822 players.

Road Studio CEO Michal Puczynski explained that the reason for the large number of bugs in the game is that the developers had not yet worked on such a large project. On the other hand, when asked why it was not decided to delay the title's release, he replied that "there was no such rationale in the absence of significant bugs demonstrated internally and in playtests."
