Dave the Diver: All mini-games Dave the Diver guide, tips

Winning mini-games can be quite challenging in Dave the Diver. Our guide answers the question of whether playing mini-games is mandatory and how to correctly score all the most popular types of mini-games.

Last update: 07 July 2023

Dave the Diver is a game that at certain moments requires considerable dexterity and reflex, and this primarily applies to mini-games. On this guide page, you will find a list of all the types of mini-games along with information about their rules. We also explain you can skip mini-games or to automatically win them.

Can you skip mini-games?

1 - Dave the Diver: All mini-games - Basics - Dave the Diver Guide
  1. Beating mini-games in Dave the Diver may require dexterity and pressing the keys fast enough (known as mashing). They can be a problem for players who aren't dexterous enough or have a slower reaction time.
  2. Unfortunately, the game doesn't have the option to disable mini-games. This function is not available in the accessibility settings, nor in any other options tab. Dave the Diver also does not have a difficulty level selection.
  3. Some mini-games may appear less frequently after you upgrade the harpoon. It might then happen that you immediately catch a fish with a harpoon instead of having to struggle with it (example in the picture). Unfortunately, other types of mini-games cannot be avoided in a similar way.

2 - Dave the Diver: All mini-games - Basics - Dave the Diver Guide
  1. The most common variant of mini-games is for struggling with fish caught with a harpoon. In most cases, you have to quickly press SPACE to charge the bar and keep it on this level until the mini-game is completed.
  2. The bar can come in several variants, including the one where you don't have to mash the SPACE key (see the picture).
3 - Dave the Diver: All mini-games - Basics - Dave the Diver Guide
  1. A more challenging mini-game requires pressing specific keys. In the example from the picture, these are the A and D keys.
  2. Unfortunately, the game randomly selects a different key combination each time, so you can't just always press the same ones. You must react instantly. You don't have much time and choosing the wrong keys will fail the mini-game (i.e. the fish gets released).
4 - Dave the Diver: All mini-games - Basics - Dave the Diver Guide
  1. An unusual type of struggling appears when using a poisoned harpoon.
  2. After catching a fish, a skull icon will appear. Follow the arrow prompts by making circular mouse movements. The skull must fill up green and remain filled above the white line.
There are also mini-games while defending against the attacks of predators, for example, a shark from the image - Dave the Diver: All mini-games - Basics - Dave the Diver Guide

There are also mini-games while defending against the attacks of predators, for example, a shark from the image. Their main variants are:

  1. Defending yourself from being eaten - You have to rhythmically press the indicated button (left mouse button in our example) and fill up the bar.
  2. Dodging - You need to quickly press a specific key (usually Q).
Mini-games also appear while serving customers in the restaurant - Dave the Diver: All mini-games - Basics - Dave the Diver Guide

Mini-games also appear while serving customers in the restaurant:

  1. Serving green tea or beer - In both cases, you have to approach the customer, press SPACE and hold the S key. The key to success is to stop pouring at the right moment, i.e. after filling about 70-80% of the cup or mug. This requires some training, but you should keep practicing - a perfect result means a tip from the customer.
  2. Replenishing Wasabi stock - Its status bar is on the right side of the screen. After it runs out, go there and press SPACE. Use the W key to replenish the stock level and fill the bar. Ignoring this step may cause the restaurant to close earlier on a given day and potentially earn less.
  3. Cleaning the table - You can do this during breaks between serving customers. Approach the dishes left on the table and press both mouse buttons to clean up.
